This
South Chatham beach is located at the end of Forest St to the south
of Route 28. It's adjacent to Pleasant St. beach and has
free parking for a limited amount of cars on a first-come first-served
basis. Forest Beach is approximately ¾ of
a mile long and is a great family-oriented beach with calm warm
waters for swimming and free entry. However, there are no lifguards,
bathrooms or snack bar, but the ice-cream truck does make frequent
stops here.
This
beach makes for a wonderful escape from the crowds and is also a convenient
sunset or moonlight stroll for those living or renting nearby. Other
bonuses here are the sandy nature trail directly behind the beach, which travels
east toward Cockle Cove Beach, and the historic site of the Chatham Marconi
radio tower, situated to the left of the trail.
You
may ignore the "Beach closes at 10pm" sign if you walk!
