Haven’t seen much of Adam Garcia for a while – in fact, I don’t know whether his most recent film “The First 20 Million is always the hardest” has even had a release here in Oz? – But that’s about to change. Garcia – who by the way, can also be seen in the new film "Standing Still", which is quite a good flick, read my review here – has snagged the lead role in a beefy new effort called “A Woman Called Job”. It’s apparently “a surrealist love story” that takes place in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA. Directing is Kurt Burk.
The movie – described as "Somewhere In Time" meets "Lost Highway" with a dash of “Catch-22” – stars Garcia as Lee Atwater, a man who encounters his fat look-alike robbing a small bank, triggering a surreal journey leading him to the love of his life…a restaurant-owner named, curiously enough, job.
The film is based on a story by the creator of the legendary 1960’s cartoon classic, “Underdog”, W. Watts Biggers. Biggers is not involved in the recently announced “Underdog” film, but he is fully occupied working with enthusiastic filmmaker Kurt Burk to co-write screenplay adaptations of his first and his newest novellas to bring them to the big screen.
This one sounds like a doozie….look forward to hearing more on it.

Partial financing is coming through Kurt’s new film company. The deal secured the rights to "The Man Inside", "The Huffman Affair", "And The Dawn Came Soon", as well as the first project, the surreal love story "A Woman Called Job". Wicked centers on two girls who meet in the land of Oz long before Dorothy drops in. One, born with emerald-green skin (Menzel), is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. Based on Gregory Maguire's novel of the same name, the show features a book by Winnie Holzman, a score by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin) and direction by Joe Mantello.
