Chatham's
Ridgevale Beach is one of the most popular family-oriented beach
on Nantucket Sound. It's located at the end of Ridgevale
Road which intersects with Rt 28 across from Chatham Pottery in
South Chatham.
The
warm, calmer waters of Nantucket Sound make for ideal swimming well
past Labor Day and the tidal pools, large sandy beach and lifeguard
on-duty make for a perfect family day at the beach. Children
gather together inn groups to play in the tidal
pools that are tucked back behind the main ocean-front beach. A parking
pass is required, but they're well worth the price and are good for
any other beach in town. If you're staying longer then
a week go ahead and get a season pass. Beach stickers for non-resident
parking can only be purchased with cash at the on-site beach booth. Residents
can purchase stickers at the booths or at the permit office at 283 George Ryder
Road across from the Chatham airport.
There
are bathrooms and food available at the Ridgevale snack bar.
